Welcome to
North Norfolk Sticks
North Norfolk Sticks is
a converted Victorian barn located in the depths of the countryside of North
Norfolk about 25 miles north of Norwich.
It is reached via a cart track yet despite its isolation it is close to the
market towns of Fakenham and Holt and only a few miles from the coast. It is
ideally situated for seclusion away from the hustle and bustle of town or
city life and a place where we are trying to achieve a green holiday
environment whilst still providing modern facilities. The property is
surrounded by organically farmed land and it is possible to walk for miles
without going on public roads. The area is ideally suited for walking,
cycling, bird watching and generally relaxing.
The barn is
situated close to the main house yet it is totally self contained within the
grounds of the owners’ 17th century farmhouse. Tenants of the barn have full
access to the ‘field’ or large lawn area of over half an acre. This area is
suitable for ball games, croquet etc. There is a shallow wildlife pond in the
field which is now securely fenced off for safety reasons. There is a large
summer house and outside tables with seating for 10 people and BBQ facilities
are provided at no extra cost. There is no restriction on parking cars but
regretfully pets cannot be accepted. There is a no smoking
policy inside the barn.
Swanton
Novers is an approximate 15 minute drive from the coast. It is a small
peaceful village surrounded by organic meadows and ancient woodlands. Two
hundred acres of this woodland is managed by English Nature and forms one of
the most important woodland reserves in the country. Entry to this area is
restricted but visitors can borrow a free permit to enter it. Of note to
birdwatchers and birders, this reserve has one of Britain’s rarest breeding birds,
the Honey Buzzard, as a regular summer visitor. Many species of raptor may be
observed there. Public footpaths access other parts of the woodland and
village. The very popular town of Holt is only
6 miles and Norwich
is 21 miles.
There are around 45 miles of coastline in North Norfolk, with long sandy beaches, crumbling
cliffs, flint pebble banks and salt marshes, stretching from Horsey to
Holkham beach. The rich architectural heritage of 81 conservation areas, over
2,200 listed buildings and 100 Scheduled Ancient Monuments, is set in
countryside ideal for cycling, walking, horse riding, bird watching or just
relaxing.
